Astral Tour Lounge, Concept Design

Upon stepping out of the elevator, guests would have entered the Astral Tour Lounge, an otherworldly liminal space designed as the beginning of a journey into the unknown. Inspired by airport lounges and retro-futuristic visions of space travel, the space was designed to feel peaceful and serene while building a sense of mystery and excitement for what was to come.

Although the client didn’t take this design forward in the end, it remains one of my favourite concepts from the project. I loved exploring how simple materials, lighting and carefully placed props could create depth and strange visual perspectives, giving the feeling that the space extended beyond its physical boundaries and offered a glimpse into another world.

The material and colour palette was kept deliberately minimal, clean and light, creating a space that allowed your brain to reset without feeling overstimulated. Sacred geometry, retro-futuristic machinery and subtle operational details brought together ideas of ancient symbolism and imagined futures, creating a space that felt like the nerve centre for a transcendental journey into the void.
